National SCORE Association SCORE, a 501(c)(3) organization, “Counselors to America’s Small Business”, was organized as a non-profit association in Washington D.C. in 1964. There are 389 chapters with more than 10,500 volunteers that have helped over 7.7 million small businesses nationwide. Further information may be seen at www.score.org.
SCORE Austin provides confidential business counseling and advice to entrepreneurs seeking to start a business, and to existing businesses seeking expertise regarding problems or opportunities. Most counseling services are free. Workshops and Special Services have a nominal fee. SCORE Austin has received multiple awards for excellence.
All SCORE Austin counselors are volunteers. Business experience and/or business related expertise is required to be a member. About forty volunteers currently share the knowledge they have gained during their business careers. A wide range of industries and disciplines are represented. SCORE Austin provided more than 2000 counseling services last year, and SCORE Austin volunteers’ total donated time exceeds 5000 hours annually. Volunteers receive no compensation, they may not accept any form of benefit from clients, and they must sign ethics agreements annually.

- Workshops about topics of vital interest to startups or existing businesses
- Special Services including customized workshops tailored to the specific needs of an established business or group of clients
- Business expertise provided by SCORE to other non-profit organizations
- Email Counseling to clients anywhere in the U.S.
- Support to other organizations with expertise, lectures, and courses
