Preparation

SCORE counselors can be most helpful during your counseling period if you are prepared to provide as much of the following information as possible:

• What assistance do you want from SCORE? Describe your business or business idea.
• What is your work and/or business background?
• Who are your customers? Why will they buy from you? Who are your competitors? How are you different? What information have you gathered about the market?
• What steps have you taken to start your business? Do you plan to start part time or full time? Are friends or family members involved in the business?
• What assets do you and others involved in the business have to invest in this business?
• Does your family support the idea of you starting the business?

Bring to the meeting: literature, samples, and other information that describe your business. Your business plan, or information that you have gathered, financial records or projections.
